A beautiful album of music, written by King David and set to music by Brayden and Tali Waller. There are 15 tracks on the album, each one a psalm from the Bible. This particular collection of psalms (Psalm 120 through 134) are known as the “Psalms of Ascent”. This special collection of psalms is traditionally sung Jewish people every Sabbath and possess a rich history and deep beauty for Christians and Jews alike. These psalms were sung on the journey up to Jerusalem by the nation of Israel as they came three times each year – for Passover, Shavuot and Sukkot.
The journey begins with Psalm 120, where a peace-loving poet finds himself in a foreign land surrounded by war-hungry neighbors. In the final song, Psalm 134, the traveler reaches the climax of his long journey and makes a call to bless God in the Holy Temple of Jerusalem. The ascent to the courts of God, though full of unforeseen trials, is a journey that ends in the awesome presence of the “Maker of heaven and earth”.
The music for each one of these fifteen psalms is composed by the Wallers and sung in both Hebrew and English. Some of the most beautiful and most powerful worship songs of all are the ones that come straight from the Bible. Let’s enter into our King’s presence together!
